Happy noises sounded from somewhere deep in your throat as you nibbled on a delicious plump, red berry you found on a fruitful bush. You were still slowly recovering from your last battle, so you were a little weak, but your long yellow tail stood tall and swished back and forth as you enjoyed your snack.

As a pokémon, a Pikachu to be exact, you were often desired by pokémon trainers who wanted nothing more than to catch you with those little balls of theirs. Some trained pokémon you've seen seem so sad. They've lost all their freedom and get used to fight petty battles between greedy humans. In some of your travels, you've met some trained pokémon who were actually happy, and they explained how their trainers use them to win badges from gyms and such.

That did not appeal to you at all.

You loved to be free, running with other wild pokémon, eating delicious berries like you are now not holed up in some ball waiting to be let out so you can fight to your master's wishes. Of course, you've had to fight so you wouldn't be caught before, and doing it so many times has made you wary of humans.

You saw them as avaricious creatures, the only thing they wanted was to catch pokémon and become more powerful for money or power or something, you didn't know what. But you weren't going to play those games. You were not going to be caught and used as a toy.

Even worse, there were pokémon poachers. Who knew what they did with pokémon, those whom they caught could never tell the tale.

So for your life, you were going to avoid being captured at all costs.

But one day, that all changed.

Like mentioned before, you were cheerfully eating berries when you heard a twig snap from somewhere around you. There was a trail next to the bush you were eating from, so you instantly hopped around and cautiously looked around.

"Pika?" you made a little noise as you looked around. At first you saw nothing, then you heard another noise and you peered around, looking down the trail.

There you saw a human walking. He was had short black hair with choppy bangs, his brown eyes fixed to a map in his hands, not looking around or at you, to your initial relief.

"It seems that I'm lost..." you heard the man mutter, with a strange accent that made his l sound like an r.

You ducked underneath the bush to hide while he passed by, watching him walk. Your yellow fur brushed the ground deep within the green leaves of the bush. To your dismay, the man sighed and looked around before walking off the trail, by the bush you were in, and sitting down.

Great, now you were stuck where you were.

The man looked at the bush, carefully analyzing it and picked one of the berries. He slowly inspected it and popped it into his mouth after he deemed it safe to eat. He smiled, just barely, and continued to pick more berries. You sighed, figuring he was going to be sitting there for a while enjoying your berries...

As the man rested, he looked over his map, and you saw some little, red and white balls around his belt. So he was a pokémon trainer; all the more reason not to let him see you. He sighed and stood up a little, grabbing one of the pokeballs on his belt. He pushed a button on it and it enlarged before he threw it into the air. A red beam shot from the ball, slowly materializing into a flying pokémon.

"Pidgey!" the pokémon from the ball called and flew down onto the human's shoulder, nuzzling his face just slightly.

"Hey Pidgey, do you think you can fly up and see where the nearest town is?" the man asked in a soft tone, and the pokémon nodded a yes before cawing again before giving a powerful flap of it’s wings and soaring up into the sky..

You sighed, looked away from the man and saw a berry just in your reach. You licked your lips and stretched out, grabbing it in your teeth and chewing it happily, suppressing noises that wanted to escape your throat. Only a little later, the Pidgey returned, landed on it’s master’s shoulder and nodded it's beak down the trail, apparently signaling that there was a town that way.

"So if we keep going we'll hit a town? Is it far?" the human asked and the Pidgey nodded, making the man sigh in defeat. “Will we make it there before the day ends?” the pokémon shook it’s feathered head.

You rustled a little in the bush, stretching to get another berry, and the man looked down at your spot in the bush, making you freeze. He took a step back before kneeling down, making you flinch and rustle even more.

"Hello...?" the black haired man asked and moved a branch out of the way. Instantly, you bolted out from the bush, scratching yourself on the many thorns protruding from the vines because you weren't being careful. The man stood up abruptly at the sudden sight of your yellow fur and pulled something from his pocket. You turned around and bristled as he looked at it, a lot of trainers did the same thing right before they tried to catch you.
"Pikachu, an electric mouse pokémon. It has small electric sacs on both its cheeks. If threatened, it loses electric charges from the sacs," the electronic voice from the pokedex spoke out loud. Sure enough, little sparks of electricity were cracking around the red dots on your cheeks.

The man looked at you and held his hands up, "It's okay, I'm not going to hurt you little Pikachu... My name is Kiku Honda..." he said soothingly, but you were still bristling.

There was no way you were going to let yourself get caught like this. You felt a stinging on your front leg and you winced a little, but still stood. It was probably a scratch from the bush.

Kiku blinked and looked at you, "You're hurt..." he said with a bit of a worried tone, but you weren't going to stick around to let him catch you.

You turned tail and started bounding down the trail, limping slightly on your front leg. Kiku seemed a little surprised before he started to run after you. You tried to pick up the pace, but figured running would get you nowhere. You turned around to fight, but as you turned, your injured leg gave out and you fell to the ground, feeling the other scratches around your body start to sting. Running must have stretched them open a little more.

You shakily stood up and looked at Kiku as he came toward you before you fell back to the ground, landing on your side with your legs sprawled out beside you. You let out a weak, "Pika-" noise as your eyes shut and you went limp. Dirt crunched as you heard the man approach you, but you couldn't even force yourself get up. You weren’t sure if you were petrified with fear, or if your body was just too weak to move; probably a mix of both.

"Poor little Pikachu... it must be tired anyway..." Kiku whispered to himself and looked at you a little closer. "And she's been hurt..."

You whimpered a bit, making quiet and fearful, "Pika," noises, as Kiku came closer. You opened your eyes, and you had a scared look on your face.

You figured he was going to throw one of those balls to catch you like all the other trainers did, and you didn't have enough strength to lift your tail and deflect it. Kiku was right, you were tired, and injured; but you weren't going to let yourself go down like this, right?

Kiku knelt down beside you and ran a hand over your rough fur, ragged from being inside the bush. If you were more careful getting out, you could have avoided this whole tragedy. He clicked his tongue as you shuddered in fear under his touch, but you were surprised when he scooped you up in his arms.

"Come on Pidgey..." Kiku said and started walking down the trail, "We have to get this Pikachu to the nearest Pokémon Center..." he said and carried you at a fast pace down the dirt path.

You were confused as to why he didn't just put you in a pokeball while you were weak, that's what other trainers would have done. Instead, he was carrying you toward town to the Pokémon Center.

Maybe he just wanted to catch a healthy pokémon…? You growled softly and Kiku looked down at you. You glanced up to meet his brown eyes, and you were a little surprised to see concern laced in his gaze.

Is he not like other trainers...? you wondered. Even though you were still recovering from your last battle, you tried to convince yourself that you could fight if you had to; even if it couldn’t happen. But for now, Kiku seemed like a good enough person, and your leg stung too much to move it. You whimpered slightly and shut your eyes, fainting in the man's arms.

~Timeskip~

You woke up feeling more recharged than you have in a while. Your body didn't ache or sting anymore from previous battles. You blinked your eyes open and saw that you were not in the forest, but someplace new.

  "Pika?"

There were tall white walls all around you, it was brightly lit with a large window across the room giving you a clear view of the forest There was something soft beneath you, much softer than the forest floor. Connected to your cheek pouches were little wires, and all your scratches were bandaged up. You looked around confused for a little while.

"Oh, hello little Pikachu," a familiar voice said and you looked toward the door to see the human who saved you, walking toward you.

"Pi? Pika..." you chirped quietly with a confused tone.

Kiku sat down in a chair next to the bed your were in and you blinked at him, not feeling any reason you would need to run from him anymore. He obviously saved you, but whether his intentions were pure you still didn't know.

"Are you feeling better?" Kiku asked.

You looked around and nodded, "Pikachu..."

Kiku smiled, "That's good. Nurse Joy said you'll be able to go back to the forest once you woke up..." he said and reached out a hand to pet you. You hesitantly let him touch your fur, which was much softer now than it was before. "You were definitely all scratched up. You must be strong to fight so much..."

A tall, skinny nurse with pink hair in two pony tails suddenly walked into the room and looked over at you, "Oh good, she's awake-" the nurse said and gently took the wires from your cheek pouches.

"Arigato, Nurse Joy," Kiku said as he stood and bowed to the woman.

"Oh it's no problem Kiku," Nurse Joy replied with a smile and a giggle. "It's not often I get to take care of a wild pokémon. Well," she picked you up beneath your front legs. Though you struggled and protested, you didn’t shock her. You didn’t see the need to… yet. "She's fit and ready to go now."

Kiku nodded and took you into his arms, holding you like a child so your stomach was up facing him, your yellow tail swishing, "Right. Thanks again," he said and the nurse led him out into the lobby.

"You take care now Kiku, and good luck at the gym!” Nurse Joy called and waved vibrantly over her head in large arcs as Kiku waved back and left the Pokémon Center behind.

It looked like it was almost sunset, but you weren't sure if it was the next day, or the a few days. Kiku walked out of the city, back out to the trail and to edge of the forest before he set you on the ground.

"There you go little one, you can be free now," Kiku said, and you took a few trivial steps forward, not feeling any pain or aching in your body. You turned back to look at Kiku, holding your tail up high.

"Pika!" you said with a bit of a soft voice. "Pi, pikachu..."

Kiku tipped his head causing some black hair to fall into his eyes, not understanding what you were trying to tell him.

You stood up on your two feet and waved your paws in the air, "Pika!"

"Gomen... I'm sorry, I don't speak Pikachu..." Kiku said simply, narrowing his eyes.

You got back down on all four paws before you ran up to Kiku and jumped onto him, making him stumble back in a little bit of surprise. You climbed up until you were on his shoulder and licked his cheek.

  "Pika," you said sternly.

Kiku blinked in surprise, guessing at what you were saying, "You want to come with me?"

You nodded and opened your mouth in a smile, "Pika, pikachu!" you cried happily and Kiku scratched the top of your head.

"Well if you want to come along I guess you can..." Kiku said.

You never thought you would ever find yourself actually choosing to go with a human. But Kiku actually seemed like a good trainer, and he was about to let you go too. He wasn't greedy, or just out to get pokémon to collect them, you saw a kindness in him. Maybe it wouldn't be so bad to travel with him, and you would happily train with him too.

"So you really want to come huh?"

  "Pika!"

Kiku smiled and tapped his chin, before turning back toward the city, "Well if you're going to come along, I should give you a name. I name a lot of my pokémon..." he thought for a moment. "How about I call you __________?"

You thought about it and nodded, "Pikachu!"

Kiku smiled a little, "Alright _________, from now on you'll be my pokémon. I promise to take care of you, okay?"

You nuzzled into his cheek and made a happy noise.

Looks like you finally found a trainer worth fighting with after all.

Just a random idea I had. I wrote this forever ago but with my Halloween series I never got the chance to upload it. I don’t like uploading a lot of things at once.

I wrote this at the beginning of October actually… welp. Just a little bit of… fluff? You could call this a little bit of fluff XD

Hurray for random ideas.

I hope you enjoy it!
